  • QUALIFICATIONS

Board Certified or Eligible within 5-7 years of training. Fellowship-trained retina specialists are highly preferred, but general ophthalmologists with trauma call experience are also in demand.

  • AVAILABILITY

Assignments typically require at least 1 week per month, with 2 weeks or full-time availability preferred. Common schedules include 1-week blocks for trauma call or 2-3 weeks/month for clinic and elective surgery (Monday-Friday).

  • LICENSURE

IMLC licensure is ideal but not mandatory. Flexibility with state licensing enhances placement opportunities in hospitals or hospital-based clinics.

  • KEY ATTRIBUTES

Experience with trauma call, retinal injections, cataracts, or open globe injuries is highly valued. Most placements are in hospitals or clinics, with trauma call and retina specialties in high demand due to a national shortage of trained specialists.
