It’s National Volunteer Week, a time to recognize and celebrate the impact of volunteers who help us build stronger communities.

At Hayes Locums, we believe that we are at our best when we are serving others. One of the ways we encourage service as an organization is through an initiative called “Hayes Helps,” a program which is designed to give back to the local community by partnering with local nonprofits and charitable organizations. Through Hayes Helps, employees can donate their time by volunteering with these organizations.

In honor of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’d like to take a moment to introduce you to some of the organizations we partner with, and the important work that they do in our community:

4KIDS

4KIDS started in 1997 as a response to the foster care crisis in Broward County, Florida.

Since then, they have helped over 30,000 children find homes, and provided them with safe, loving environments as they await placement in foster care. Our employees help support their work by organizing drives for toy and school supply donations, and participating in fundraising events. Read more about our work with 4KIDS here.

Experience Camps

Experience Camps provides no-cost camps for children who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. Through compassion, connection, and play, these one-week, overnight summer camps help children navigate their grief, while empowering them with coping skills, confidence, and resilience.

One of our employees said, of volunteering with Experience Camps: “I didn’t know what to expect, but the experience the camp provides, the kids, the staff — words don’t do it justice.” You can read more about his experience volunteering with Experience Camps here.

Honor Flight

Honor Flight South Florida is a 100% volunteer organization, dedicated to honoring veterans in Broward, Dade, and Monroe counties. Through Honor Flight, veterans are provided with an all-expenses paid trip to tour the memorials in Washington D.C.––which many of these veterans would not otherwise have the opportunity to see––remember friends that they’ve lost, and share stories with other veterans.

Hayes employees often volunteer as guardians––volunteers who accompany veterans on these trips. One of our volunteers said of her trip: “I’ve volunteered with other organizations, but Honor Flight is my favorite to date.” You can read more about her experience here.

In addition to these organizations, we also work with several other non-profits doing great work in South Florida: Special Olympics Florida, HOPE South Florida, First Priority, and Trees of Hope.

We are so proud to support the important work of these organizations through our volunteer work, and we hope you will join us in supporting organizations in your community––this week, and every week!
